About Us

Mission


The Mission of the Virginia-District of Columbia Consortium for Clinical Education (also referred to as ‘the Consortium’) is:
  1. To promote quality and innovation in physical therapy clinical education
  2. To advance the clinical practice of physical therapy toward Vision 2020
  3. To support the current and future efforts of the Directors of Clinical Education (DCE), Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education (ACCE), Center Coordinators of Clinical Education (CCCE) and Clinical Instructors (CI) in Virginia and the District of Columbia educational and clinical settings



Function


The functions of the Virginia-District of Columbia Consortium for Clinical Education include but are not limited to:
  1. Provide continuing education for center coordinators and clinical instructors with an emphasis on clinical teaching and clinical education issues
  2. Act as a network, clearinghouse and support system for clinical education among its members
  3. Provide a mechanism for assistance with clinical site challenges, time slots and student placement issues for clinical education
  4. Maintain a joint calendar of fulltime placements
  5. Provide feedback when solicited from the APTA on general matters of clinical education



2010 Strategic Plan


Goal 1 - Communication Goal 2 - Research Goal 3 - Education
Create mechanisms for improved communication between consortium academic members and between the academic and the clinical faculty members. Consortium will identify and design a PT and a PTA research question related to clinical education. Create a clinical faculty education curriculum to be administered by the consortium.
